Buena Vista Social Cafe, Waterfront

Buena Vista Social Cafe is a restaurant with an authentic Cuban design style. The aim of the project was to recreate the interior of the dilapidated Cuban architecture. We aged the walls with painting techniques and chopped open some of the plaster to reveal the beautiful old brickwork. The furniture is mismatch and all the fabrics are different. The double story heritage building allows for two bars, one on each level. We also added a 100 square meter deck to increase the dining space. Buena Vista Social Cafe is part of a franchise, but each venue is unique to it’s setting.
